SD14 special: Rep. Sheryl Cole (D-Austin) endorsed former Travis County Judge Sarah Eckhardt (D). Three other members of the Travis Co. delegation – Reps. Gina Hinojosa (D-Austin), Donna Howard (D-Austin) and Celia Israel (D-Austin) have previously endorsed Rep. Eddie Rodriguez (D-Austin).
RRC open: EMILY’s List endorsed Chrysta Castañeda in the Democratic runoff over former Rep. Roberto Alonzo (D-Dallas).
HD2: Associated Republicans of Texas PAC endorsed Rep. Dan Flynn (R-Van) in the Republican runoff over Bryan Slaton. The group did not endorse in the primary election.
HD26 open: The Jacey Jetton campaign released a new ad, “Stronger, Safer Texas,” highlighting Gov. Greg Abbott’s (R) endorsement and conservative credentials.
CD24 open: The National Federation of Independent Businesses endorsed former Irving Mayor Beth Van Duyne (R).
CD31: Reps. John Bucy (D-Cedar Park) and James Talarico (D-Round Rock) endorsed Christine Mann in the Democratic runoff over Donna Imam.
Houston: The campaign of term-limited Mayor Sylvester Turner is holding a “birthday party fundraiser” on September 24, with host committee levels as high as $10K. Host committee members signing up before June 30 “will be invited to participate in our Mingle with the Mayor series of small-group conversations,” according to the invitation.
