SD31: Midland oil and gas executive Kevin Sparks announced he would challenge Sen. Kel Seliger (R-Amarillo) in the Republican primary. Sparks is a former member of the Texas Public Policy Foundation’s board of directors. His father Don Sparks unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for this seat in 2004.

HD10 special: Texas Alliance for Life PAC endorsed former Rep. John Wray (R-Waxahachie).

HD70: Prosper accountant Jim Herblin announced he would challenge Rep. Scott Sanford (R-McKinney) in the Republican primary. Herblin unsuccessfully challenged Sen. Craig Estes (R-Wichita Falls) in the 2012 Republican primary, losing 65%-35%.
