Our Crib Sheets have been updated to show the complete list of Libertarian candidates, which we received today (Tuesday). We are still seeking the Green Party’s roster of candidates and the list of candidates who filed declarations of intent to run as independents from the Secretary of State. We have also updated our Municipal Elections page to list the offices scheduled to be on the ballots for the May 2 and November 3 general elections.

HD28 special: The Forward Majority PAC, a national Democratic group, released a new ad resurrecting allegations against Republican candidate Gary Gates stemming from his 13 children being taken by Child Protective Services in 2000. CPS ultimately dropped the case, which was the impetus for changes in state policy regarding the removal of children from a home. The issue has resurfaced during some of Gates’s past campaigns. Early voting for the runoff begins January 21.

HD85: Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC endorsed Rep. Phil Stephenson (R-Wharton) for re-election.

HD106: Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC endorsed Rep. Jared Patterson (R-Frisco) for re-election.

CD7: The Wesley Hunt campaign released a new ad, “Three Words,” highlighting Hunt’s military service and top priorities.

CD11 open: The Austin Pfluger campaign released a new ad, “Our Conservative and Rural Values,” highlighting his support of President Trump and longtime family history in the district.

CD13 open: The campaign of Republican candidate Josh Winegarner announced he raised $346K during the fourth quarter and has $283K on hand.

CD21: The campaign of Democratic challenger Wendy Davis announced she raised more than $900K during the fourth quarter. She raised more than $940K in the preceding quarter.

CD22 open: Texas Right to Life PAC endorsed Kathaleen Wall to succeed the retiring U.S. Pete Olson (R-Sugar Land).

The Greg Hill campaign released a list of 44 Brazoria Co. endorsements including all four county commissioners and all four constables, Pearland Mayor Tom Reid and six of seven council members, Alvin Mayor Paul Horn and five of seven council members, the entire Alvin ISD school board and former Brazoria Co. Sheriff and County Judge Joe King.

PRES: The Joe Biden campaign announced that several former endorsers of Julián Castro have now endorsed Biden, including Reps. Rafael Anchia (D-Dallas), Ryan Guillen (D-Rio Grande City), Eddie Lucio III (D-Brownsville), Oscar Longoria (D-La Joya) and Mando Martinez (D-Weslaco); Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff (D) and Co. Comm. Justin Rodriguez (D); and former Sen. Leticia Van de Putte (D-San Antonio).

Eagle Pass: Early voting begins Monday for the February 1 special elections to fill the unexpired terms of former Mayor Ramsey Cantu and the two incumbent council members seeking his seat. Council members Luis Sifuentes and Rudy Villalpando were the only candidates to file for mayor. Elias Diaz, Elizabeth Chisum De La Garza and Frank Sanchez are vying for the P2 position, and Rolando Salinas and Mayito Obregon filed for the P4 position.

El Paso: Early voting begins tomorrow (Wednesday) for the D6 special runoff election between Claudia Rodriguez (32%) and Debbie Torres (28%) and continues through January 21. The runoff election is January 25. The special election was triggered by council member Claudia Ordaz Perez’s announcement she was running for HD76.
