Early Voting continues tomorrow and Tuesday in jurisdictions holding June 10 runoffs and begins tomorrow in jurisdictions holding June 17 runoffs.
HD114: We can confirm that Dallas attorney John Turner, son of former U.S. Rep. Jim Turner (D-Crockett), has formed a campaign committee for a potential challenge of Rep. Jason Villalba (R-Dallas) as a Democrat. We previously reported he had filed such paperwork but were not 100 percent sure we had the right John Turner (We did.).
In a tweet, Villalba said he welcomed the challenge.
Looking forward to a robust contest of the ideas. Honored to serve #HD114 and am always up for a thorough job review/interview. #TxLege https://t.co/SiwYoKBCWm

Tip of the hat to the Texas Tribune’s Patrick Svitek.
CD30: Dallas cybersecurity engineer Jaime Mendez-Perez has published a CrowdPAC page for a potential challenge to U.S. Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-Dallas) as a Republican.
See our 2018 Challengers page for all 146 challengers and open seat candidates who we confirm have taken a formal step toward running for state and federal office from Texas in 2018.
Abilene: The Abilene Reporter-News’s previous position of endorsing Robert Briley before the May 6 election “was not revisited,” but the paper added that “Abilene would be served well by either candidate.” Briley faces Anthony Williams in the June 17 mayoral runoff.
