HD10 open: Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC endorsed former Rep. John Wray (R-Waxahachie) to succeed now-U.S. Rep. Jake Ellzey (R-Waxahachie).

HD114 open: Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC endorsed Luisa del Rosal (R) for the seat being vacated by Rep. John Turner (D-Dallas). The group endorsed her 2020 challenge of Turner.

SD25: Universal City attorney Alexis Adams established a campaign committee for a potential challenge of Sen. Donna Campbell (R-New Braunfels). We were unable to determine her partisan affiliation conclusively.

Judicial Campaign: Former Rep. Aaron Peña (R-Edinburg) converted his campaign committee into a judicial campaign account but did not indicate what office he might potentially seek. Peña reported having $13K on hand as of June 30, a figure that has not changed in nine years of semiannual filings. Peña represented HD40 for five terms beginning in 2003. He was elected each time as a Democrat but switched parties in December 2010 alongside former Rep. Allan Ritter (R-Nederland). Peña did not seek re-election as a Republican after a federal judicial panel made his district “unwinnable by me or any Republican candidate.”
