Lago Vista business law and project developer Mark Tippetts won the Libertarian Party’s gubernatorial nomination, edging out gun rights activist Kory Watkins by six votes during this weekend’s state convention. Two-time gubernatorial nominee Kathie Glass finished third, followed by Flower Mound resident Patrick Smith. Glass endorsed Tippetts and the rest of the statewide candidate slate, according to a Facebook post.

The party selected its other statewide candidates:

  • LTGOV: Kerry McKennon
  • AG: Michael Ray Harris
  • COMP: Ben Sanders
  • LAND: Matt Piña
  • AGRIC: Richard Carpenter
  • RRC: Mike Wright
  • CCA1: William Strange III; and
  • CCA8: Mark Ash.

Houston venture capitalist Neal Dikeman won the party’s nomination for U.S. Senate, defeating four rivals. We should have more information on the party’s congressional and legislative nominations later this week.

The Green Party of Texas held its state convention in the Houston area over the weekend. We have not seen any official information as to its nominations and other activities. The None of the Above Party held its convention via conference call. We have not seen any official information as to its nominations and other activities.
