AG: District Judge George Gallagher granted prosecutors’ motion to move Attorney General Ken Paxton’s criminal securities fraud trial out of Collin Co. He denied their request to delay proceedings until they receive payment, but the trial is nonetheless delayed until a new venue is selected. Gallagher also denied Paxton’s motion to dismiss the case. The trial was scheduled to begin May 1. Later in the day, Paxton asked the judge to reconsider his decision.

AGRIC: Mineral Wells retired Air Force colonel, nonprofit founder and former Weatherford ISD trustee Kim Olson announced her challenge to Agriculture Comm. Sid Miller as a Democrat. Olson filed a campaign treasurer appointment last month but did not indicate what office she would seek. An ActBlue fundraising page for her Agriculture Comm. Campaign went live yesterday (Wednesday).

SD25: Dripping Springs software developer Steve Kling filed paperwork to establish a campaign committee for a potential challenge to Sen. Donna Campbell (R-New Braunfels). His social media activity suggests he will run as a Democrat.
