Early voting has concluded for the January 29 special elections in HD79 and HD145. Early voting for the February 12 special election in HD125 begins on Monday.

HD79 special: Through Thursday, the last day for which numbers are available, a total of 2,198 people have voted early, amounting to 2.5% of registered voters.

HD119: San Antonio resident George B. Garza established a campaign committee for a potential challenge of Rep. Roland Gutierrez (D-San Antonio).

HD125 special: Annie’s List endorsed Coda Rayo-Garza.

HD145 special: Today (Friday) was the last day of early voting, and more people voted today than in any other two days of the early voting period combined. On the last day, 419 people voted, almost entirely in person, bringing the 11-day total to 1,526 ballots cast, amounting to 2.1% of registered voters.

Meanwhile, in a tweet, U.S. Rep. Sylvia Garcia (D-Houston) said, “If I could vote, I’d vote for Christina Morales.”

DCCC Targets: The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is targeting 25 seats across the country, including five in Texas, as part of a first wave of a digital ad campaign for 2020. In Texas, the party is targeting U.S. Reps. John Carter (R-Round Rock), Kenny Marchant (R-Carrollton), Michael McCaul (R-Austin), Pete Olson (R-Sugar Land) and Chip Roy (R-Austin).
