SD13: Annie’s List endorsed Rep. Senfronia Thompson (D-Houston), one of its founding members. The Latino Labor Leadership Council endorsed Thompson. In a letter to the Houston Chronicle, HD23 candidate and former six-term Rep. Lloyd Criss (D-La Marque) endorsed Thompson.
CD23: An internal poll conducted for the Pete Gallego campaign shows the former Congressman with an 8-point lead (45%-37%) over U.S. Rep. Will Hurd (R-San Antonio) with 14% undecided. The poll indicates that presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is largely viewed unfavorably (37/58) in the district, particularly by Hispanic voters, of which two thirds rate Trump “very unfavorably.” The poll indicates presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton leads Trump, 45%-40%. The poll of 603 “likely 2016 voters” was conducted by Anzalone Liszt Grove Research, a national Democratic polling firm. It was in the field June 20-23 and has a stated margin of error of ±4.0%.
