Schubert Resigning: Rep. Leighton Schubert (R-Caldwell) announced he would resign effective February 4 to join Blinn College in its legal affairs office. A special election will be held to fill Schubert’s unexpired term. It is highly unlikely that it will coincide with the March 6 primary.

LAND: An internal poll released by the George P. Bush campaign in an email to supporters shows the incumbent leading former Land Comm. Jerry Patterson, 57%-4%. The other two candidates in the race – Davey Edwards and Rick Range – each polled around 1%. That would leave around 37% undecided. Suffice it to say, the three challengers disputed the poll’s accuracy.
