HD10 special: Gov. Greg Abbott (R) ordered a September 28 runoff election to fill the unexpired state House term of U.S. Rep. Jake Ellzey (R-Waxahachie). Early voting begins Monday. Former U.S. Health and Human Services official Brian Harrison (R) faces former Rep. John Wray (R-Waxahachie).

HD118 special: Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff (D) endorsed Frank Ramirez (D).

LTGOV: Nederland author and secession advocate Daniel Miller, president of the Texas Nationalism Movement, re-established his campaign committee for a potential state race. On his website, Miller said a letter “circulating throughout grassroots activists, leaders and organizations” is seeking to draft him to challenge Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R). He unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for HD21 in 2012, losing to Rep. Allan Ritter (R-Nederland), 72%-28%.

AG: The campaign of Democratic candidate and 2018 nominee Mike Collier announced he has raised more than $1M so far this election cycle. He raised a total of $1.3M during the 2017-18 election cycle.

TBD: Smithville resident Jennifer Bezner established a state campaign committee for a potential run for an undetermined office as a Republican. As legislative districts are currently configured, Smithville is entirely within SD14, currently held by Sen. Sarah Eckhardt (D-Austin), and HD17, currently held by Rep. John Cyrier (R-Lockhart).

CD32: Dallas investment banker Justin Webb established a campaign committee for a potential challenge of U.S. Rep. Colin Allred (D-Dallas) as a Republican. He is at least the seventh Republican to take a formal step toward challenging Allred.
