Aledo Mayor Kit Marshall announced she would challenge Rep. Glenn Rogers (R-Graford) in the Republican primary. Marshall was first elected mayor in 2006 and re-elected seven times. She has led the Aledo Economic Development Corporation since 2008. Her candidacy announcement included endorsements from eight local mayors.

She is at least the third Republican challenger to enter the race, joining Aledo retired biochemist Mike Olcott and Weatherford college professor and Weatherford ISD trustee Joshua Tarbay.

Redistricting paired Rogers with Rep. Phil King (R-Weatherford), who is running for SD10.

Early voting continues for the November 2 constitutional amendment, general and special elections.
