Harlingen ISD: In the Place 7 runoff, Eladio Jaimez defeated Rosalinda Mercado-Garza, 59%-41%. The two were separated by one vote after the May 7 election. A single provisional ballot tied the race, forcing this runoff.

Kyle: In the District 1 runoff, Travis Mitchell defeated incumbent Diane Hervol, 59%-41%. The candidates tied the May 7 election with 510 votes each. Mitchell received 722 in the runoff to Hervol’s 509.

Longview: In the District 6 runoff, Steve Pirtle defeated Karen Maines, 55%-45%.

Missouri City: In the Place 2 race, it appears incumbent Chris Preston has defeated challenger Cynthia Gary by 9 votes out of 2,237 cast. A pair of precincts are listed as out, but all vote centers are “completely reported.”

Sugar Land: In the mayor’s race, at-large council member Joe Zimmerman defeated Place 4 council member Harish Jajoo, 61%-39%. Zimmerman was endorsed by outgoing Mayor James Thompson, who was term-limited. In the Place 2 race, Mary Joyce defeated Naomi Lam, 60%-40%.

Meanwhile, early voting continues for the June 18 runoff elections.
