Early voting is underway in jurisdictions holding June 5 runoff elections.

Tarrant Co. saw just over 7K in-person voters today (Monday), about two thirds of which are registered in Fort Worth. Just over 1K votes were cast by Arlington voters. Less than 3K people voted in person in Bexar Co. today.

HD135: Former Jersey Village Mayor Justin Ray announced he would seek a rematch against Rep. Jon Rosenthal (D-Houston), who won re-election in 2020 by 300 votes.

Bipartisan Election Bill: Absentee voters may soon be able to track their ballots online after the House concurred in Senate amendments to House Bill 1382 by Rep. John Bucy (D-Cedar Park). The bill would direct the Secretary of State to develop or otherwise provide an online tool enabling a voter to look up the location and status of their absentee ballot. As written, the bill appears to require a voter to have a driver’s license or personal identification card issued by the Dept. of Public Safety.

The bill passed the House and Senate with few nays, drawing broad bipartisan support. It was sponsored by Sen. Bryan Hughes (R-Mineola) in the Senate.

Fort Worth: Over the weekend, the Mattie Parker campaign released a new ad in which she says “there is no room for divisive partisanship” at city hall. Her runoff opponent, Deborah Peoples, is the Tarrant Co. Democratic Party chair, and the state party has said it is “excited to fully support” Peoples.

Late last week, EMILY’s List endorsed Peoples.
