Harris Co.: Several candidates vying to become the replacement nominee for Harris Co. Comm. Precinct 1 attended a forum Sunday to address several dozen Democratic precinct chairs and other activists. Participants included:

  • Houston City Council member Dwight Boykins
  • Rodney Ellis (D-Houston)
  • DeWayne Lark
  • Interim Comm. Gene Locke
  • Photographer Georgia Provost, who ran unsuccessfully for an at-large Houston City Council position in 2015, and
  • Educator RayKey Tezino, who lost the HD139 special election to Rep. Jarvis Johnson (D-Houston).

Boykins has not formally announced he is seeking the post, as doing so may trigger a state law requiring city elected officials with terms of more than two years to resign when they seek another office.
