SEN: The Dallas Morning News’s Gromer Jeffers Jr. reported that former U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-El Paso) has decided not to challenge U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R) and will likely run for president. In a statement provided to the paper, O’Rourke confirmed he and his wife Amy had “made a decision about how we can best serve our country” and were “excited to share it with everyone soon.”

HD145 special: Through today (Wednesday), the third out of five days of early voting, a total of 744 votes have been cast, 438 in person and 306 by mail. It took eight days of early voting to reach 742 votes cast for last month’s special election.

Secretary of State: The Senate Nominations Committee is expected to vote on Secretary of State David Whitley’s nomination at its hearing tomorrow (Thursday).

CD22: 2018 Democratic nominee Sri Preston Kulkarni amended his campaign committee paperwork to reflect updated contact information, but it does not appear he re-authorized it for 2020. Kulkarni lost the general election to U.S. Rep. Pete Olson (R-Sugar Land), 51%-46%.

Brownsville: Incumbent council member Jessica Tetreau has sued challenger Caty Presas-Garcia seeking to remove her from the ballot. The suit alleges the challenger claimed to circulate several pages of her petition that were actually circulated by another individual.
