HD138: 2018 Democratic nominee Adam Milasincic announced he would not run again in 2020 and instead endorsed Houston attorney Akilah Bacy. Milasincic lost to Rep. Dwayne Bohac (R-Houston) by just 47 votes out of more than 48K votes cast in 2018, 50.0%-49.9%.
Campaign Finance: Monday is the deadline for federal officeholders and candidates to file their April quarterly reports, which disclose contributions received and expenditures made between January 1 and March 31. We will update our Crib Sheets with the latest figures early next week.
Copperas Cove: Early voting is underway for the April 27 special election to fill the unexpired term of former Mayor Frank Seffrood, who passed away in December weeks after being re-elected. Four candidates are in the race.
Dallas: The Dallas Morning News endorsed incumbent D2 council member Adam Medrano and incumbent D11 council member Lee Kleinman for re-election. The paper endorsed Chad West for open D1.
San Antonio: The San Antonio Express-News endorsed incumbent D7 council member Ana Sandoval.
Weslaco: Council member Jerry Tafolla has resigned, effective immediately, following his guilty plea last week to bribery charges. The council is expected to vote to accept his resignation during its meeting Tuesday. Tafolla was elected in November to a fourth term. A special election will be required to fill his unexpired term.
