Gun Barrel City resident Earl Brunner filed in the Republican primary, but he has also filed in the Republican primary for CD5. Both offices are on the same primary ballot, so he will be ineligible for one of them.

HD13 open: Brenham legal assistant Daniel McCarthy and Bellville resident Jill Wolfskill filed in the Republican primary for the seat being vacated by Rep. Leighton Schubert (R-Caldwell).

HD34: Corpus Christi resident Chris Hale filed in the Republican primary to challenge Rep. Abel Herrero (D-Corpus Christi).

HD100: Former Dallas council member and frequent candidate Sandra Crenshaw filed to challenge Rep. Eric Johnson (D-Dallas) in the Democratic primary. Crenshaw served one term on the Dallas City Council from 1993 to 1995. She lost subsequent council races in 2000 (22%), 2001 (33%), 2007 (15%) and 2015 (13%). Her application to run in 2017 was rejected on the basis of residency. She unsuccessfully challenged Rep. Toni Rose (D-Dallas) in the 2014 (43%) and 2016 (36%) Democratic primaries for HD110. Her application to run in 2014 should have been rejected on the basis of residency, but the error was not caught in time to remove her name from the ballot.
