Early voting continues through Friday for the November 2 constitutional amendment, general and special elections. Through yesterday (Monday), the eighth day of early voting, statewide turnout inched over 2% of registered voters. A little over 350K of the state’s nearly 17M registered voters have cast ballots so far.

HD118 special: Eight-day-out campaign finance reports were due yesterday (Monday) for the two candidates in next week’s runoff election. Former Rep. John Lujan (R-San Antonio) reported raising $336K and has $43K on hand. Lujan’s largest contributor since the special election were Associated Republicans of Texas PAC ($187K), Speaker Dade Phelan ($50K), Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC ($50K) and Gov. Greg Abbott ($13K). Eleven other House members gave contributions. Lujan has raised nearly $500K during the campaign so far.

AG: The campaign of former Supreme Court Justice Eva Guzman (R) released a new ad, “Fearless Conservative, Republican.”

HD37 open: Indian Lake Mayor and security company manager James A. Chambers established a campaign committee for a potential run as a Republican for the newly drawn open seat in Cameron Co.

HD52 open: Round Rock healthcare consultant and podcast host Jonathan Schober established a campaign committee for a potential run as a Republican for an open Williamson Co. seat.

HD61 open: McKinney real estate agent and adjunct professor Paul Chabot established a campaign committee for a potential run as a Republican for a newly drawn open seat in Collin Co.

HD133 open: Houston attorney Shelly Barineau established a campaign committee for a potential run as a Republican for the seat being vacated by Rep. Jim Murphy (R-Houston).

CD37: Austin political campaign staffing agency executive Christopher Jones established a campaign committee for a potential primary challenge of U.S. Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-Austin).
