HD125: Rep.-elect Ray Lopez (D-San Antonio) will be sworn in on Thursday at 10 a.m. CDT.

HD145: Rep.-elect Christina Morales (D-Houston) will be sworn in tomorrow (Monday) at 3 p.m. CDT.

SD27: San Benito attorney Sara Stapleton-Barrera established a campaign committee for a potential primary challenge of Sen. Eddie Lucio Jr. (D-San Benito). Lucio has faced just one primary challenger since 1994. He defeated Rodriguez Haro III, 84%-16%, in 2016.

SEN: U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-San Antonio) appears poised to challenge U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R). Castro would be abandoning a safe Congressional seat to do so. An announcement is expected “in the very near future.”

Meanwhile, the Federal Elections Commission fined the campaign of U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R) $35K for not properly disclosing loans from Citibank and Goldman Sachs during his 2012 race.
