Early Voting has concluded in jurisdictions holding their runoff elections on Saturday and continued in jurisdictions holding their runoff elections on June 17. Turnout has been predictably low in most jurisdictions. Some highlights:

  • In Abilene, 4,344 people have voted during the first three days of early voting in the mayoral runoff, a figure that already exceeds the turnout from the 2013 runoff, which involved only one council district. The mayoral runoff is June 17.
  • In El Paso, early voting turnout was down nearly 40% from 2013 despite a mayoral runoff, three council runoffs and a special election being on the ballot. Those elections are June 10.
  • In Plano, nearly 12K people voted early in the two city council runoff races, nearly five times the number who voted early in the city’s last runoff in 2013.
  • In San Antonio, early voting turnout lagged about 12% behind the same period for the May 6 election but was about the same as for the 2015 mayoral runoff. Turnout was highest on the city’s north side, which favored Taylor in the 2015 runoff. Overall, about 8% of voters cast ballots early.

We will have live coverage of runoff results Saturday evening.
