SCCJ: Austin attorney and District Judge Amy Clark Meachum amended her campaign committee for a potential challenge of Chief Justice Nathan Hecht (R) as a Democrat. Meachum was first elected to the 201st Judicial District in 2010.

HD127: Rep. Dan Huberty (R-Kingwood) “let it slip” that he would be announcing his re-election campaign soon at a Harris Co. Republican Party event.

Meanwhile, Kingwood resident Dwight Ford established a campaign committee for a potential challenge of Huberty. We were unable to identify him conclusively. An individual named Dwight Ford is a current or recent Democratic precinct chair in Cypress, but that precinct is outside the district.

TBD: Tyler college student and sales director Julie Gobble established a campaign committee for a nonjudicial state race but did not appear to indicate which seat she might seek. Social media activity suggests she would run as a Democrat. Sen. Bryan Hughes (R-Mineola) and Rep. Matt Schaefer (R-Tyler) are on the ballot in 2020.
