HD125: With one day of early voting remaining, 2,763 voters have cast ballots in person, including 416 today (Thursday), the largest single-day total so far, amounting to around 2.7% of registered voters. Of those, 1,205 have been cast at the Maury Maverick Library in the northwestern portion of the district, more than any other three voting locations combined. Bexar Co. does not release ballot-by-mail numbers until Election Day, which is Tuesday.

CD2: Houston resident Elisa Cardnell established a campaign committee for a potential challenge of U.S. Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Houston) as a Democrat.

CD31: Georgetown resident Michael H. Williams established a campaign committee for a potential primary challenge of U.S. Rep. John Carter (R-Round Rock).

Congressional Targets: The National Republican Campaign Committee released its initial list of 2020 targets. CD7, held by U.S. Rep. Lizzie Pannill Fletcher (D-Houston), and CD32, held by U.S. Rep. Colin Allred (D-Dallas), are the only two Texas districts among 55 Democrat-held seats on the list. The list includes all 31 Democrat-held districts that were carried by President Trump in 2016. “Freedom or socialism. That’s the choice in 2020,” said U.S. Rep. Tom Emmer (R-Minn.), the chair of the NRCC, in a statement.

Campaign Finance: The Federal Election Commission increased the maximum individual contribution to a federal candidate to $2,800 per election from $2,700. This limit applies to a primary election and separately to a general election in any election cycle.
