Early voting for the March 3 primary election begins Tuesday. Federal candidates’ pre-primary reports are due on February 20, and state candidates’ 8-day-out reports are due February 24.

Tomorrow (Friday) is the deadline for candidates to file for local offices on the May 2 general election ballot.

TREPAC Endorsements: The Texas Assoc. of Realtors TREPAC announced additional endorsements for the March 3 primary:

  • Glenn Rogers (R) for HD60 open
  • Eddie Morales Jr. (D) for HD74 open
  • Claudia Ordaz Perez (D) for HD76 open
  • Jim Griffin (R) for HD92 open
  • Former Rep. Linda Koop (R-Dallas) for HD102 to face Rep. Ana-Maria Ramos (D-Dallas)
  • Carl Sherman Sr. (D-DeSoto) for HD109; and
  • Trey Martinez Fischer (D-San Antonio) for HD116.

Annie’s List Endorsements: Annie’s List Texas endorsed six candidates in contested primary races:

  • Xochil Peña Rodriguez (D) for open SD19 over Rep. Roland Gutierrez (D-San Antonio)
  • Primary challenger Sara Stapleton Barrera (D) for SD27 over Sen. Eddie Lucio Jr. (D-Brownsville)
  • Rocio Gosewehr Hernandez (D) for HD67 to face Rep. Jeff Leach (R-Allen)
  • Elizabeth Beck (D) for HD97 to face Rep. Craig Goldman (R-Fort Worth)
  • Natali Hurtado (D) for HD126 to face Rep. Sam Harless (R-Spring)
  • Akilah Bacy (D) for HD138

BIZPAC Endorsements: The Texas Assoc. of Business BIZPAC released its list of primary endorsements, almost entirely Republican incumbents. The group endorsed Carrie Isaac (R) for the Republican nomination to challenge Rep. Erin Zwiener (D-Driftwood) in HD45; Jim Griffin (R) in open HD92; and former Rep. Linda Koop (R-Dallas) for the Republican nomination to challenge Rep. Ana-Maria Ramos (D-Dallas) in HD102. Sen. Eddie Lucio Jr. (D-Brownsville) and Reps. Tracy King (D-Batesville) and Oscar Longoria (D-La Joya) were the only Democrats to receive endorsements. Our Cribs Sheets have been updated to reflect these endorsements.

HD128: The Houston Chronicle endorsed Josh Markle for the Democratic nomination to challenge Rep. Briscoe Cain (R-Deer Park).

HD129: The Houston Chronicle endorsed Rep. Dennis Paul (R-Webster) for re-nomination.

HD131: The Houston Chronicle endorsed Rep. Alma Allen (D-Houston) for re-nomination.

HD132: The Houston Chronicle endorsed former Rep. Mike Schofield (R-Katy) for the Republican nomination to challenge Rep. Gina Calanni (D-Katy).

HD134: The Houston Chronicle endorsed Ann Johnson for the Democratic nomination to challenge Rep. Sarah Davis (R-Houston).

HD141: The Houston Chronicle endorsed Rep. Senfronia Thompson (D-Houston) for re-nomination.

HD146: The Houston Chronicle endorsed Rep. Shawn Thierry (D-Houston) for re-nomination.

HD147: The Houston Chronicle endorsed Rep. Garnet Coleman (D-Houston) for re-nomination.

HD148: The Houston Chronicle endorsed Rep. Anna Eastman (D-Houston) for the Democratic nomination for a full term.

SEN: The San Antonio Express-News endorsed U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R) and former Houston council member Amanda Edwards (D) for their respective party’s nominations.

CD10: The Austin American-Statesman endorsed Pritesh Gandhi for the Democratic nomination to challenge U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Austin).

CD12: The Fort Worth Star-Telegram endorsed Lisa Welch for the Democratic nomination to challenge U.S. Rep. Kay Granger (R-Fort Worth).

CD21: The Austin American-Statesman endorsed former Sen. Wendy Davis (D-Fort Worth) for the Democratic nomination to challenge U.S. Rep. Chip Roy (R-Austin).

CD35: The Austin American-Statesman endorsed U.S. Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-Austin) and Nick Moutos (R) for their respective party’s nominations.

PRES: Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner endorsed Mike Bloomberg for the Democratic nomination.
