Texas Medical Assoc.: The Texas Medical Assoc.’s TEXPAC announced its primary endorsements today. While the group predominantly endorsed incumbents, it chose to endorse five challengers:
- Michael Massengale for SC3
- Hugh Shine for HD55
- Scott Fisher for HD92
- Andrew Piel for HD94, and
- Bennett Ratliff for HD115.
The group endorsed several open-seat candidates: Jay Dean (HD7), Scott Cosper (HD54), Kevin Downing (HD60), Adolfo Lopez (HD77) and Tom Oliverson (HD130). The group also endorsed Tomas Uresti for the Democratic nomination in HD118.
HD8: Michael Reagan, son of former President Ronald Reagan, endorsed challenger Thomas McNutt.
HD124: The San Antonio Texas AFL-CIO endorsed Rep. Ina Minjarez (D-San Antonio).
Harris Co.: Rep. Garnet Coleman (D-Houston) said in a post on his website that he supported Sen. Rodney Ellis’s (D-Houston) bid to become the next Pct. 2 commissioner. Coleman is one of four House members Ellis mentioned as a potential replacement. The others were Reps. Borris Miles (D-Houston), Ron Reynolds (D-Missouri City) and Senfronia Thompson (D-Houston).
