LAND (Likely R): Sen. Dawn Buckingham’s (R-Lakeway) campaign released a list of endorsements from 44 Republican state representatives including Rep. James White (R-Hillister), who is challenging Agriculture Comm. Sid Miller (R).
HD19 open (Safe R): U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-San Antonio) endorsed Justin Berry (R). U.S. Rep. Chip Roy (R-Austin) endorsed former Austin council member Ellen Troxclair (R).
HD84 open (Likely R): Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC endorsed Carl Tepper (R).
Texas Right to Life Endorsements: The Texas Right to Life PAC released a series of open-seat endorsements via the group’s Twitter account including:
- Nubia Devine (R) in HD19 open (Safe R)
- Terri Leo Wilson (R) in HD23 open (Likely R)
- Shelley Luther (R) in HD62 (Safe R) over Rep. Reggie Smith (R-Van Alstyne), who was endorsed by Texas Alliance for Life PAC
- Jeff Younger (R) in HD63 open (Likely R)
- Nate Schatzline (R) in HD93 open (Likely R); and
- Greg Travis (R) in HD133 open (Likely R)
CD23 (Lean R): Texas Alliance for Life PAC endorsed U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-San Antonio).
CD28 (Lean D): Former U.S. Rep. Ciro Rodriguez (D-San Antonio) endorsed primary challenger Jessica Cisneros over U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Laredo).
CD30 open (Safe D): Sen. Beverly Powell (D-Burleson) and Rep. Chris Turner (D-Grand Prairie) endorsed Jane Hope Hamilton (D).
CD35 open (Safe D): Retiring U.S. Rep. Filemon Vela (D-Brownsville) endorsed Rep. Eddie Rodriguez (D-Austin).
Austin: Early voting is underway for the January 25 special election to fill the unexpired term of council member Greg Casar, who is running for Congress. Seven candidates are seeking the seat.
Rep. Celia Israel (D-Austin) has scheduled an “announcement on her political future” tomorrow (Tuesday). Israel, who did not seek re-election, has been exploring the race to succeed term-limited Mayor Steve Adler.
