Early voting for the March 1 primary begins tomorrow (Monday).

GOV (Likely R): The Dallas Morning News and Fort Worth Star-Telegram endorsed Gov. Greg Abbott (R) and Beto O’Rourke (D) for their respective party’s nominations.

LTGOV (Lean R): The Dallas Morning News and Houston Chronicle endorsed Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R) and Mike Collier (D) for their respective party’s nominations. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram endorsed Carla Brailey for the Democratic nomination.

AG (Lean R): The Houston Chronicle endorsed former Supreme Court Justice Eva Guzman (R) over Atty. Gen. Ken Paxton (R).

RRC (Likely R): The San Antonio Express-News endorsed Sarah Stogner (R) over Comm. Wayne Christian (R).

SD9 (Likely R): The Houston Chronicle endorsed challenger David Schenck (R) over Justice Evan Young (R).

CCA5 (Likely R): The Houston Chronicle endorsed Judge Scott Walker (R).

SD11 open (Likely R): The Houston Chronicle endorsed Bob Mitchell (R).

HD91 (Likely R): The Fort Worth Star-Telegram endorsed Rep. Stephanie Klick (R-Fort Worth).

HD93 open (Likely R): The Fort Worth Star-Telegram endorsed Laura Hill (R).

CD7 (Likely D): The Houston Chronicle endorsed Tim Stroud (R) to face U.S. Rep. Lizzie Fletcher (D-Houston).

CD29 (Safe D): The Houston Chronicle endorsed Lulite Ejigu (R) to face U.S. Rep. Sylvia Garcia (D-Houston).

CD32 (Safe D): The Dallas Morning News withdrew its endorsement of Brad Namdar for the Republican nomination to face U.S. Rep. Colin Allred (D-Dallas), citing an investigative report about accusations against Namdar by the paper. The editorial board did not recommend an alternative candidate.

CD38 (Safe R): The Houston Chronicle endorsed Duncan Klussmann (D) for the Democratic nomination.

Mail Ballots: Federal District Judge Xavier Rodriguez issued a preliminary injunction against a new state law prohibiting county election officials from sending absentee ballot applications to voters who have not specifically requested them. Violations of the new law could subject county officials and election office employees to civil and criminal penalties. A swift appeal is expected. Friday is the deadline for voters to request an absentee ballot for the primary election.
