Tuesday is the general election. We will have live coverage beginning at 7 p.m. that evening.

Early Voting: Just 2.5% of registered voters in the state’s 15 most populous counties cast ballots early in person or by mail for Tuesday’s general and constitutional amendment election. Turnout was highest in Travis (5.48%) and Hidalgo (4.89%) Cos. Less than 2% of registered voters cast ballots early in Tarrant (1.98%), Galveston (1.94%), Bexar (1.90%), Collin (1.87%), Brazoria (1.72%), Montgomery (1.52%) and Cameron (1.33%) Cos.

Filing for the 2018 election begins on Saturday.

GOV: Andrew White posted 10 “position papers” to his web site, exploring issues such as education, human rights, border security and women’s health. Meanwhile, in a Facebook post, 2014 Democratic nominee Wendy Davis (D-Fort Worth) criticized White for his position on abortion issues, which was included in one of those position papers. Elsewhere, Austin writer Lee Weaver established a campaign committee for a potential challenge of Gov. Greg Abbott (R).

PRES: Former San Antonio Mayor and U.S. Housing & Urban Affairs Secretary Julián Castro said he would decide on a potential 2020 presidential run by the end of the year 2018.
