Early voting continues in most jurisdictions holding June 10 runoff elections.

SD8: U.S. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) will headline a fundraiser for Phillip Huffines, the Dallas Co. Republican chair who is running for the seat expected to be vacated by Sen. Van Taylor (R-Plano). Meanwhile, Rep. Matt Shaheen (R-Plano) told the Dallas Morning News that he is leaning toward running for the seat.

SD19: Sen. Carlos Uresti (D-San Antonio) pleaded not guilty to all 11 felony counts related to his involvement with the bankrupt frac-sand company FourWinds Logistics and two counts related to a health services contract in Reeves Co. A federal grand jury indicted Uresti on May 16.

HD28: Houston firefighter John Sandrea has launched a CrowdPAC fundraising page for a potential primary challenge to Rep. John Zerwas (R-Richmond).

CD21: Air Force veteran and 2016 Democratic nominee Tom Wakely amended his statement of candidacy to challenge U.S. Rep. Lamar Smith (R-San Antonio) as an independent. At least nine other people have taken a formal step to run for the Democratic nomination, so Wakely’s change of partisan affiliation provides an easier road to the November ballot, albeit a tougher road to Congress. Wakely received 36% of the vote against Smith in 2016.

CD26: Fort Worth resident Cyrus Sajna has filed paperwork establishing a campaign committee for a potential primary challenge of U.S. Rep. Michael Burgess (R-Lewisville).
