Early Voting begins tomorrow (Tuesday) for the June 10 runoff elections in most jurisdictions holding them and runs through June 6.
San Antonio: The San Antonio Express-News endorsed incumbent Mayor Ivy Taylor in her runoff against council member Ron Nirenberg. Meanwhile, former Mayor Phil Hardberger endorsed Nirenberg.
Empower Texans’ Scorecard: The conservative group announced that it would not release its biennial “Fiscal Responsibility Index” until after any special session(s) called by Gov. Greg Abbott, but it did provide some information about what those rankings will show. “Every Republican member of the Senate has a passing grade, but only 21 of the 94 House Republicans are passing,” wrote Michael Quinn Sullivan in the group’s blog. In 2015, 50 House Republicans scored at least a 70 on the group’s scorecard.
