Early voting concluded today in jurisdictions holding June 10 runoff elections and continued in jurisdictions holding June 17 runoff elections.

SD10: Sen. Konni Burton (R-Colleyville) formally announced her re-election bid.

HD23: Wallisville oil company president and conservative activist David “Mayes” Middleton formally announced he would challenge Rep. Wayne Faircloth (R-Dickinson) in the Republican primary. We previously reported that he formed a campaign committee for the race.

CD3: Plano attorney Lorie Burch has filed paperwork establishing a campaign committee for a potential race for open CD3 as a Democrat. She is past president of the American Business Women’s Assoc. U.S. Rep. Sam Johnson (R-Plano) is not seeking re-election.

CD21: Austin nonprofit executive Elliott McFadden formally announced his campaign by releasing a list of more than 125 endorsements, including Travis Co. Comm. Margaret Gomez and Austin council members Leslie Pool and Pio Renteria and a number of former Democratic elected officials. At least 10 people have taken a formal step toward running against U.S. Rep. Lamar Smith (R-San Antonio) as a Democrat.
