Early voting continues Monday and concludes Tuesday for June 9 local runoffs and begins Monday for June 16 local runoffs, continuing until June 12. In Mission, 3,795 people have voted early during the first five days of early voting (Two days remain.) for the June 9 mayoral runoff election. For the May election, a total of 4,641 early votes were cast.

CD7: A “survey” conducted by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s Targeting and Analytics Department shows challenger Lizzie Pannill Fletcher in a statistical tie with U.S. Rep. John Culberson (R-Houston), as it should. Fletcher trails Culberson, 47%-45%, despite half of respondents’ lack of opinion of her. According to the toplines, Fletcher leads among women, 50%-42%, and among “modeled independents,” 52%-32%. The survey of 404 “likely” voters was conducted using a “standard blend of live cell phone and automated calls” between May 23 and May 31. The stated margin of error was ±4.9%. No crosstabs or other demographic information were provided.

Abilene: The Abilene Reporter-News endorsed challenger Jack Rentz over incumbent council member Bruce Kreitler for the June 16 runoff election. The paper previously backed Alex Russell, who finished third, in the May general election.
