Redistricting: During its conference tomorrow, the U.S. Supreme Court will decide if it will hear the state’s redistricting lawsuit. The state appealed a federal district court’s ruling invalidating two Texas congressional districts. In September, SCOTUS stayed that ruling and a separate ruling invalidating nine State House districts by 5-4 votes.

GOV: Eight of the 10 Democratic candidates for governor, including former Dallas Co. Sheriff Lupe Valdez and Houston entrepreneur Andrew White, are expected to participate in a forum Monday night in San Angelo. Hosted by the Tom Green Co. Democratic Party, the forum will be shown live on the group’s Facebook page beginning at 7 p.m. CST. Cedric Davis, Joe Mumbach, Adrian Ocegueda, Jeffrey Payne, Demetria Smith and Tom Wakely are also expected to participate.

SD8: The Angela Paxton campaign released its first TV ad, a biographical spot.

SD17: Gov. Greg Abbott (R) endorsed Sen. Joan Huffman (R-Houston) for re-election.

Virginia: The Republican Party remains in nominal control of the lower house after Del. David Yancey’s name was drawn out of a bowl, breaking a tied race for his seat. Republicans will hold a 51-49 advantage in the chamber when it convenes later this year. They held a 66-34 advantage going into the November general election.
