We’ve updated our Crib Sheets with additional campaign finance report filings. Almost every candidate has now filed a report.

LTGOV: Former Lt. Gov. Bill Ratliff (R) endorsed challenger Scott Milder over Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R).

AGRIC: Former Gov. Rick Perry (R) endorsed Agriculture Comm. Sid Miller (R).

SD19: A jury was seated today for the criminal trial of Sen. Carlos Uresti. He was charged in May with five counts of wire fraud, two counts of securities fraud, one count of engaging in monetary transactions with property derived from unlawful activity and one count of being an unregistered securities broker. Along with two executives – one of whom has pleaded guilty – of the bankrupt Four Winds company, he was also charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering. Opening statements are scheduled for Monday before U.S. District Judge David Alan Ezra, and the trial is expected to take about three weeks. Uresti, who is not up for re-election until 2020, has maintained his innocence throughout.

HD63: The Dallas Morning News made no recommendation for the Democratic nomination to face Rep. Tan Parker (R-Flower Mound).

HD115: The Dallas Morning News endorsed Julie Johnson for the Democratic nomination to face Rep. Matt Rinaldi (R-Irving).

Redistricting: The U.S. Supreme Court has stayed a lower court ruling ordering the North Carolina legislature to draw new congressional districts, “pending the timely filing and disposition of an appeal.” The development likely means that the current map will be used in this year’s election. Last week, a federal three-judge panel ruled the map is an unconstitutional partisan gerrymander.
