Voter Registration: Monday is the deadline to register to vote for the March 6 primary.
30-day-out campaign finance reports are due Monday for state and local candidates, where required, who face primary opposition. Candidates and officeholders without primary opponents will not file new campaign finance reports until July. The 30-day-out reports cover contributions received and expenditures made during the first 25 days of 2018.
SC: The Texas Civil Justice League PAC endorsed incumbent Justices Jimmy Blacklock (R), Jeff Brown (R) and John Devine (R).
CD21 open: Rep. Jason Isaac’s (R-Dripping Springs) campaign released a list of endorsements from statewide and local leaders, including Railroad Comm. Wayne Christian, 15 of Isaac’s current legislative colleagues and former Rep. Rick Green (R-Dripping Springs). Isaac is one of 18 Republicans vying to succeed the retiring U.S. Rep. Lamar Smith (R-San Antonio).
CD27 open: Rep. John Cyrier (R-Lockhart) endorsed Bech Bruun for the seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Blake Farenthold (R-Corpus Christi).
Watauga: Mayor Hector Garcia has passed away. Garcia served as mayor, city council member and zoning board chairman for most of the last four decades years. He was most recently elected in 2016 and had one more year left on his term.
