HD118: San Antonio resident Steven Cantu filed paperwork establishing a campaign PAC for a potential challenge to Rep. Tomas Uresti (D-San Antonio).

CD5: Terrell attorney Dan Wood filed a statement of candidacy for a potential challenge to U.S. Rep. Jeb Hensarling (D-Dallas) as a Democrat. Wood ran unsuccessfully in 2012 for a seat on the Fifth Court of Appeals, receiving 47% of the vote.

Dallas: The Dallas Morning News endorsed incumbent Casey Thomas for city council (D3).

San Antonio: Mayor Ivy Taylor reported having $401K on hand after raising $129K and spending $167K since January 1. Council member Ron Nirenberg reported having $208K on hand after raising $122K and spending $157K for the period. Manuel Medina’s filing was not available on the city’s web site. Reports were available from about half of the other 11 candidates on the ballot. Collectively they had less than $3K on hand and $5K in contributions.
