Early voting began today (Tuesday) in most jurisdictions holding runoff elections on June 8.

Turnout today (including mail ballots) in Dallas Co. was 0.9% of eligible registered voters, which includes all of Dallas and portions of Cedar Hill, DeSoto, Grand Prairie, Richardson, Rowlett and Dallas ISD. In Bexar Co., just under 13K people voted today in person in the San Antonio mayoral and three council runoffs.

CD33: Fort Worth resident Viktor Valencia Avalos established a campaign committee for a potential primary challenge of U.S. Rep. Marc Veasey (D-Fort Worth).

Dallas: The city’s Ethics Advisory Commission unanimously voted to clear council member Philip Kingston of two complaints related to zoning changes he championed. Kingston faces David Blewett in the June 8 runoff.

San Juan: A state district judge granted a temporary restraining order against incumbent P5 council member Pete Garcia. The complaint was filed by Marco Villegas, Garcia’s runoff opponent, and accused the incumbent of spreading a flyer listing nearly a dozen crimes committed by a Marco Villegas. Candidate Villegas argued that the crimes were committed by someone who is 10 years older. District Judge Rose Guerra Reyna set a June 10 court date, which is two days after the runoff election.

Slaton: Mayor Dubbin England and council member Buster Tucker passed away within a week of each other earlier this month. A special election is expected to coincide with the November general election.
