A new Crosswind/Austin American-Statesman poll shows Donald Trump leading Hillary Clinton, 45%-38%, in Texas. Libertarian Gary Johnson received the support of 7% of respondents. Another 10% were undecided.

The poll’s results were consistent with others showing Clinton with large leads among younger voters (51%-28% under 40 years old), African-Americans (77%-17%) and Hispanics/Latinos (56%-24%) and Trump with large leads among older (71%-25% 65 and older) and Anglo voters (57%-25%).

In contrast to recent polls, Trump has a larger lead among women (46%-38%) than men (43%-39%).

The poll of 800 “likely voters” was conducted by telephone and online. Its stated margin of error is ±3.5%. No crosstabs or other details were available.
