Democratic candidate and general election nominee Eric Holguin recently released a TV ad, “You Are Needed Now,” for the special election.
Meanwhile, the outside groups who poured more than $850K into the CD27 Republican primary and runoff have not spent anything on the special election.
SD19 special: Maverick Co. Sheriff Tom Schmerber endorsed Rep. Roland Gutierrez (D-San Antonio).
Edinburg ISD: The school board has backed away from a plan to spend nearly half a million dollars to purchase voting equipment and administer its elections. One reason is Hidalgo Co.’s decision to implement countywide polling stations. The school district would have been required to provide one of its machines, and a poll worker, in every early voting and Election Day voting location in the county. Doing so could potentially have doubled the initial cost estimate for a district already facing an estimated $11M budgetary shortfall.
