CD2: Democrat Elisa Cardnell has suspended her campaign. She received 31% of the vote in the primary and was set to face Sima Ladjevardian (48%) in the runoff. “After a hard look at the numbers, we do not have the resources and clear path to reach a majority in the runoff,” Cardnell said in a statement. Cardnell has until Sunday to withdraw, which would cancel the runoff election and make Ladjevardian the nominee to challenge U.S. Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Houston).

HD47: Aaron Reitz, who finished fourth in the Republican primary with 15% of the vote, endorsed Jennifer Fleck for the runoff. Fleck faces former Austin council member Don Zimmerman, unless additional votes or a recount reverses his one-vote lead over Justin Berry.

SEN: Cristina Tzintzún Ramirez, who finished third in the Democratic primary, endorsed Sen. Royce West (D-Dallas) over M.J. Hegar for the runoff.

Upcoming Primary Deadlines: Today (Monday) was the last day that counties could accept overseas ballots that were postmarked by March 3. County party chairs will be canvassing results of the March 3 primary election on Thursday. State party chairs must canvass statewide results no later than Sunday for all races with at least three candidates. Recounts must be requested by 2 p.m. on Friday regardless of whether the race was canvassed Thursday or Sunday. Candidates wishing to withdraw from the runoff must do so by March 18.
