HD8: Rep. Byron Cook (R-Corsicana) told the Texas Tribune that he had not decided whether he would seek re-election, and he gave no timetable for his decision. His 2016 primary opponent, Corsicana businessman Thomas McNutt, has announced he is running for the seat.

HD100: Rep. Eric Johnson (D-Dallas) announced he would seek re-election.

CD20: Former U.S. Rep. Quico Canseco (R-San Antonio) re-established his campaign committee for a potential challenge of U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-San Antonio). Canseco represented CD23 from 2011-2013 before being defeated by then state Rep. Pete Gallego (D-Alpine) in the 2012 general election. Canseco sought a rematch in 2014 but lost the Republican primary to Will Hurd (R-San Antonio), who went on to defeat Gallego in the 2014 and 2016 general elections. Unlike CD23, CD20 is a strongly Democratic district.

CD22: Sugar Land resident James Green formed a campaign committee for a potential primary challenge of U.S. Rep. Pete Olson (R-Sugar Land).

Campaign Finance: We’re still going through this weekend’s federal campaign finance reports, and some are still not available online. We are in the process of updating our Federal Crib Sheet and expect to have complete results later this week.
