HD99: 2016 Republican primary candidate Bo French and his wife Sheridan have filed a defamation lawsuit against David Sorensen, a political consultant to Rep. Charlie Geren’s (R-Fort Worth) 2016 campaign. French has announced plans to challenge Geren in the 2018 Republican primary, but he has not yet filed for the race, as far as we can tell.

HD109 open: DeSoto insurance business owner and council member Deshaundra Lockhart Jones filed in the Democratic primary for the seat being vacated by Rep. Helen Giddings (D-DeSoto). Jones has served as the P3 member since 2016 and previously served as the P2 member from 2008 to 2013.

HD127: Houston educator and Republican precinct chair R.C. Grant Jr. filed to challenge Rep. Dan Huberty (R-Humble) in the primary.

HD146: Houston resident Roy Owens filed to challenge Rep. Shawn Thierry (D-Houston) in the Democratic primary. He received 3% of the vote as a write-in candidate in 2016.

ED12 open: Fairview fencing company owner and council member Pam Little filed in the Republican primary for the seat being vacated by board member Tincy Miller (R-Dallas). First elected to the town council in 2016, Little is treasurer of the Republican Women of Greater North Texas.

CD2 open: Houston resident Jonathan Havens established a campaign committee for a potential run for the seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Ted Poe (R-Humble) as a Republican. We were not able to identify him conclusively.

CD6 open: Kennedale resident Shawn Dandridge established a campaign committee for a potential run for the seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Joe Barton (R-Ennis) as a Republican. We were unable to identify him conclusively.

CD21 open: New Braunfels executive coach Ryan Krause established a campaign committee for a potential run for the seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Lamar Smith (R-San Antonio) as a Republican. He is at least the 12th candidate to take a formal step toward seeking the Republican nomination. At least six candidates are seeking the Democratic nomination.
