The filing period ends Monday. Our Crib Sheets have the latest information on candidates’ filing status. At least 436 candidates have filed for federal, statewide or legislative office so far.

SD19: San Antonio resident Belinda Shvetz filed as a Democrat to challenge Sen. Pete Flores (R-Pleasanton). She established a federal campaign committee for a 2010 challenge of then-U.S. Rep. Lamar Smith (R-San Antonio) but did not appear on the ballot.

HD144: An individual named Tony Salas filed as a Republican to challenge Rep. Mary Ann Perez (D-Houston). We were unable to indentify the candidate conclusively.

SEN: Houston resident Anne Garcia established a campaign committee for a potential challenge of U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R) as a Democrat. We were unable to identify her conclusively.

CD17 open: Waco resident David Saucedo established a campaign committee for a potential run for the seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Bill Flores (R-Bryan) as a Republican. We were unable to identify him conclusively.

CD25: Austin software engineer Keith Neuendorff filed to challenge U.S. Rep. Roger Williams (R-Austin) in the Republican primary. We were unable to identify him conclusively.

CD30: Former Rep. Barbara Mallory Caraway (D-Dallas) filed to challenge U.S. Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-Dallas) in the Democratic primary for the fifth consecutive election cycle. Caraway received 18% of the vote in the 2012 primary, 30% in 2014, 24% in 2016 and 23% in 2018.
