CD24 open: U.S. Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-Heath) endorsed former Irving Mayor Beth Van Duyne for the seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Kenny Marchant (R-Coppell).

PRES: A new Univ. of Texas-Tyler poll (PDF) shows Joe Biden (26%), former U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke (20%), Bernie Sanders (18%) and Elizabeth Warren (11%) leading the field among “Texas Democrats.” Cory Booker (6%), Kamala Harris (5%), former San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro (4%) and Pete Buttigieg (3%) are the only other candidates above 1%. The poll was conducted after last week’s Democratic debate.

President Trump did not poll above 40% in any of six hypothetical general election races, but he nonetheless polled ahead of four Democrats, trailing only O’Rourke (42%-40%) and Biden (40%-38%), both within the poll’s ±2.8% margin of error. “Neither – Other” or “Not sure” accounted for between 18% and 30% of respondents.
