GOV: Dallas Co. Sheriff Lupe Valdez (D) said she is exploring a possible challenge of Gov. Greg Abbott (R). She was first elected in 2004 and has been re-elected three times. Valdez would likely have to resign to run against Abbott. In that case, the Dallas Co. Commissioner’s Court would then appoint her successor. Meanwhile, Houston attorney Kathie Glass kicked off her third race for governor as a Libertarian.

HD147: Rep. Garnet Coleman (D-Houston) announced he would seek re-election.
