SC6 open: Houston attorney and former Court of Appeals Justice Jane Bland (R) updated her campaign committee for the seat being vacated by Justice Jeff Brown (R), who has been confirmed as a federal district judge by the U.S. Senate. Gov. Greg Abbott (R) has previously announced his intent to appoint Bland to the court. Bland must face the voters in November 2020 to continue serving Brown’s unexpired term. Bland served on the First Court of Appeals from her appointment in 2003 until her narrow 2018 general election loss to Gordon Goodman (D).

HD9: Gov. Greg Abbott (R) endorsed Rep. Chris Paddie (R-Marshall) for re-election.

HD60: Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC endorsed Rep. Mike Lang (R-Granbury) for re-election.

HD75: Rep. Mary González (D-Clint) announced she would seek re-election to a fifth term.

HD107: Mesquite resident Samuel C. Smith established a campaign committee for a potential challenge of Rep. Victoria Neave (D-Dallas). We were unable to identify him conclusively.

HD126: Rep. Sam Harless (R-Spring) announced he would seek re-election to a second term.

HD148 special: Houston attorney Chris Carmona reauthorized his campaign committee for a potential run for the seat being vacated by Rep. Jessica Farrar (D-Houston) as a Republican. Carmona lost the 2014 general election for the seat to Farrar, 60%-40%.

CD11 open: Midland nursing services business owner Ned Luscombe established a campaign committee for a potential run for the seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Mike Conaway (R-Midland) as a Republican.

CD14: West Columbia aerospace engineer and longtime council member Robert Thomas established a campaign committee for a potential challenge of U.S. Rep. Randy Weber (R-Pearland) as a Democrat. Thomas was first elected to the city council in 1997.

CD24 open: Dallas real estate agent Sunny Chaparala established a campaign committee for a potential run for the seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Kenny Marchant (R-Carrollton) as a Republican.
