PRES: The Hillary Clinton campaign released a new ad that’s part of a “modest” ad buy in Texas. She is believed to be only the second Democratic presidential candidate to buy local ad time in Texas since Jimmy Carter in 1976 (Bill Clinton in 1992). The ad quotes the Dallas Morning News’s endorsement editorial. Clinton is the first Democratic presidential candidate endorsed by the paper since 1936.

The ad will air for one week in the Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio markets and online. The cost of the ad buy was not disclosed, but a campaign press release said it is “a fraction of the investment … needed to put Texas truly into play.”

RRC: Former Republican candidate Ron Hale, who finished third in the primary, endorsed Libertarian Mark Miller.

Dallas Co.: Election officials plan to double the number of early voting sites to around 50 to accommodate an estimated 768K early voters.
