SD6 special: Early voting continues for the December 11 special election. In-person turnout fell to 292 people today (Tuesday) from 373 yesterday, but nearly 1K more ballots by mail were received today than yesterday and the days leading up to it. Through two days, 2,329 people have voted early in person or, mostly, by mail. That corresponds to 0.7% turnout so far. Early voting continues through December 7, and more than 11K ballots by mail have not yet been returned.

Meanwhile, the campaign of Rep. Carol Alvarado (D-Houston) released a new ad, “Fighting for Texas Families,” reminding voters that “election season isn’t over.”

Dallas: In the headline of a press advisory announcing a Thursday news conference about a possible run for mayor, former city attorney Larry Casto announced he would run for mayor. Casto resigned as city attorney in August, highlighting in his announcement then that he was considering a mayoral run. Former Dallas Housing Authority chair Albert Black Jr. is the only officially announced candidate, as far as we can tell.

El Paso: Early voting begins tomorrow (Wednesday) for the December 15 runoff elections for the D1 and D8 council seats. In D1, incumbent Peter Svarzbein (31%) faces Veronica Roni Frescas (28%). In D8, incumbent Cissy Lizarraga (44%) faces Nicholas Vasquez (16%), who made the runoff by just 15 votes over Rich Wright.
