HD28 special: Katy intelligence and polygraph business owner Gary Hale filed for the seat being vacated by Rep. John Zerwas (R-Richmond) as a Republican. He joins Houston anesthesiologist Anna Allred (R), who kicked off her campaign today (Thursday); Rosenberg real estate investor Gary Gates (R); Katy educator Eliz Markowitz (D); and Katy logistics specialist Clinton Purnell (R). The filing deadline is September 4.

HD148 special: Houston community advocate and former Houston ISD Trustee Anna Eastman established a campaign committee for a potential run for the seat being vacated by Rep. Jessica Farrar (D-Houston).

CD29: Conroe car salesman Nile Irsan changed the partisan affiliation of his campaign committee to Democrat from Republican, making him now a primary challenger of U.S. Rep. Sylvia Garcia (D-Houston). Conroe is not located within the district. Irsan’s brother pleaded guilty to a murder charge today (Thursday) in connection with killings his father was convicted of orchestrating last year, reported the Houston Chronicle’s Dylan McGuinness. Irsan the candidate said he would focus on criminal justice issues.

CD32: Garland resident Bao Vinh (Nhat-Nam Nguyen Pham) established a campaign committee for a potential challenge of U.S. Rep. Colin Allred (D-Dallas) as a Republican.
