HD60: Graford rancher Glenn Rogers, who announced his intent to run for the seat following Rep. Mike Lang’s (R-Granbury) announcement that he would seek county office, will remain in the Republican primary race despite Lang’s reversal that he will seek re-election after all.

SEN: At the Texas Tribune Festival, former San Antonio Mayor Joaquin Castro said he would not enter the race to challenge U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R) if he were to abandon his presidential campaign.

Meanwhile, Harlingen resident Victor Harris established a campaign committee for a potential challenge of Cornyn as a Democrat.

CD12: In a fundraising email, the Chris Putnam campaign said he is “on track” to exceed U.S. Rep. Kay Granger’s cash on hand figure – $362K as of June 30 – after raising more than $100K in the first couple of days following the announcement of his primary challenge.

CD17 open: College Station Naval officer Trent Gregory Sutton established a campaign committee for a potential run for the seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Bill Flores (R-Bryan) as a Republican.

CD27: Shiner resident Michael Jon Lawrence established a campaign committee for a potential primary challenge of U.S. Rep. Michael Cloud (R-Victoria).
